There is something about the start of a new season that makes my wallet weep tears… I can’t help but feel like I need to stock up on new items when there is a change in the weather. This is especially apparent in the fall because it’s one of my favorite seasons for fashion. I have been hitting up shops in Soho and East Village, as well as doing some copious amounts of online browsing lately. Taking into consideration all the looming trends and seasonal must haves, I wanted to share 10 high street pieces that are currently on my watch list for fall and winter. I apologize in advance for your own wallet’s sake!

It is officially leather weather and I promise you will be seeing this fabrication in just about any item you could possibly imagine. An updated leather trench coat is definitely on my mind as I prep my wardrobe for the new season. A black leather trench adds that air of mystery and femme fatale – or you can opt for a flashier color such as maroon or hunter green if you want even more of a statement piece.

2. Croc-Embossed Bag

Leather continues to trend even in the handbag department. Croc embossed bags are the new “It” bag of the season. Whether it be structured, baguette, oversized, or clutch it is most certainly going to be accenting many of my outfits.

3. Vinyl Midi Skirt

Keeping with the glossy fabrications, a vinyl midi skirt is a new age take on a classic silhouette. This piece is sure to be a show stopper. Since it is a more aggressive fabric, I imagine myself pairing it with a top that is on the more demure and girly side to balance it out.

4. Square Toe Boots

Square toed sandals had a huge moment this past summer and it is being evolved into something more seasonally appropriate, but still chic as ever. Square toed boots are the latest footwear I am eyeing up. So much in fact that I think my wardrobe could benefit from a neutral pair and a croc embossed pair! The more the merrier, right?

A chunky knit cardigan is the coziest thing I have in my shopping cart right now. An oversized, square fitted sweater is going to be perfect when paired with some vintage denim and booties. To keep your look updated, adapt the cardigan as your top, rather than just an outerwear piece. (Also love this one and this one!)

6. Dark Floral Dress

Sadly, I said goodbye to all of my bright, tropical florals but I am not quite ready to let go of the pattern just yet. There are so many moodier, darker floral printed dresses that I need for fall! Simple shift dresses, transparent midis, and floor length maxi dresses are a must.

7. Sequin Blazer

I love a good blazer, but I am always on the hunt for ways to elevate it. When I saw this sequin blazer, I knew I needed it in my life. Although this may not be everyone’s everyday wear, it is certainly going to come in handy for nights out, events and holiday parties. But knowing me though, I won’t have an issue wearing it to the grocery store down the street! (Also love this!)

8. Balloon Sleeve Top

Statement sleeves will continue into the fall season. Balloon sleeves in particular continue to grab my attention. I love how commanding and powerful this trend is. This fall, I will definitely be stocking up on more statement sleeve tops that I can wear for every occasion.

9. Pearl Headband

I mentioned previously on the blog how I am starting to retire the hair pin trend that blew up. Although, I participated in it, I feel like it’s being overdone and I am ready to move on to the next best thing – headbands. Pearl encrusted headbands still give homage to the hair accessory trend, but is done in a new, more unique way. (Also love pearl handbags!)

10. Plaid Skirt

No fall season is complete with the incorporation of a classic plaid print. I have been on a skirt kick as of lately and am in the mood for a plaid skirt I can pair cozy sweaters and knits with.

11. Wide Leg Pants

There are days when denim and skirts just aren’t going to cut it. That’s why you need to keep a pair of wide leg trousers on hand. I’ve been obsessed with this new one from Uniqlo. It works with so many different looks and is so on trend for fall. (Also love this one for a more elevated vibe.)
