Every girl has experienced sleeping through an alarm and jolting out of bed in sudden realization that she’s late. If you’ve done this then I know you’ve probably made a mad dash around the house trying to get ready in rapid fashion. For whatever reason, on days like this, it’s so normal to open the doors only to feel like there’s nothing to wear! Having to get ready when there is a time crunch can be extremely stressful but I discovered a secret to make the process a little bit smoother – outfit formulas. Knowing these go-to fall outfit formulas are helpful when getting ready in a pinch – or any day for that matter!

Coat + Dress + OTK Boots

When I need to grab something quick and easy but still ensure I look chic, a dress with over-the-knee boots and a jacket of some sort  is one of my most reliable combinations. First of all, opting for a dress already makes the process a hundred times easier because it is an entire outfit in one. All you need to worry about is adding some layers if you need extra warmth. A coat to throw on top and some boots or tights to keep your legs protected is a no-brainer, allowing you to get ready in a cinch.

Sweater + Jeans (or Trousers) + Ankle Booties

For more relaxed occasions, I find myself always scrambling to throw on my favorite pair of skinny jeans or cropped trousers. We all have that one pant that fits us just right, makes our bottom look good, and manages to go with everything. When in a rush, a cute sweater never fails to impress. To finish off the look, style with some heeled ankle boots so it looks like you are completely put together even though you slept through your alarm!

Maxi Dress (or Skirt) + Blazer + Pumps

If I need to attend a more formal meeting or work event, I use one of my go-to business casual outfit formulas. The combination of a maxi dress or skirt, blazer, and pumps not only ensures I look the part, but it also makes me feel more confident in myself.

Another variation of this look is with a classic button up shirt matched with some high-waisted trousers. It’ll allow you to walk into any meeting with grace and class. Don’t forget to finish off the look with your favorite kitten heels.

What’s great about these two combos is that you likely already have the pieces hanging in your closet, and can mix and match them in various ways.

Blazer + Wide Legged Pants

Keeping with the business casual theme, another outfit formula that also gets me in that boss babe mindset, is a blazer paired with wide legged pants. There is something so commanding about the two of these items put together. The blazer just seems to demand for authority, while the wide legged pants create the illusion of looking taller. It’s such a tailored look that stands the test of time.

Long Line Coat + T-Shirt + Midi Skirt (or Jeans)

My last go-to fall outfit combo involves a long-line coat and plain tee paired with jeans or a midi skirt. The longer jacket such as the trench coat is definitely one of my favorites when it comes to outerwear. Not only does it serve its purpose of keeping you warm, but it also looks unbelievably good on too!

When I am in a rut and have limited time to get ready, a never-fail combo is a tee tucked into a flattering pair of jeans or midi skirt. Stick to neutral colors if you don’t want to waste time analyzing, but be afraid of a bold colored coat to tie it all together.
