I‘ve been to the airport enough times now to know the do’s and don’ts of jet-set dressing. However, airport style in the winter presents its own set of problems – especially if you’re switching climates like I often do! This is just one of the joys of traveling from NYC in the winter. But let me assure you that comfy winter airport looks are completely doable. I’ll be sharing a few of my secrets for achieving that today.

To start, you need to get familiar with layering clothes, wear the right shoes, and comfy bottoms. Here are some of my favorite go-to winter airport looks.

Plaid - 9 Looks that Seamlessly Transition from Winter to Spring // NotJessFashion.com

Plaid Shirt + Black Jeans + Sneakers

Plaid flannels are great to wear when traveling in the winter because the thicker material can lock in some warmth. If you’re tired of seeing plaid button-ups, try ruffle one or a blouse with an exaggerated sleeve. There’s even plaid velvet tops today! I love wearing plaid with black denim – something about that combo really highlights the pattern!

Leggings + Leather Jacket + Slip On Sneakers

If you’re traveling long distance or international, leggings are the comfiest option! And that also makes sneakers the best shoe choice especially when you have to walk from one end to the other lugging along your suitcase. Plus, you can run if you’re late for the connecting flight. It’s happened to me too many times. Wear the slip-on kind for ease of meandering through TSA. Everything pairs nicely with leggings, but for the sake of traveling, a plain t-shirt, sweatshirt, and leather jacket are a no-brainer combo.

Skinny Jeans + Tee + Statement Booties

If you’re a “no sneakers allowed” kind of girl, wear a bootie with a block heel that won’t be too uncomfortable to walk in. Go ahead and swap out your usual for a statement bootie like the printed ones I’m wearing. A loud piece like this paired with jeans, t-shirt, and a ruffle jacket will have you feeling like you’re on the airport’s red carpet! This is what I call traveling in style!

Comfy Winter Airport Looks - Leather Pants Hoodie Denim Jacket and Boots // Notjessfashion.com

Leather Pants + Hoodie + Denim Jacket

We can always look to Kendall Jenner’s casual style for inspiration when it comes to comfy winter airport looks. Wear a hoodie to stay warm while you’re in transit, on the airplane, and going to the hotel. Don’t forget to layer an oversized denim jacket over in case you need the extra layers. Leather pants can be just as pleasant as leggings if you find the right pair! All these pieces culminate to be the essence of casual but cool!

Track Pants + Crop Top + Sneakers

For an on-trend but still comfy ensemble, try the latest and greatest: the track pant! Everyone wore these back in the days for many reasons but mostly for its relaxed, at-ease attributes. I couldn’t think of a better alternative to leggings than track pants! Pair it with a crop top and minimalist sneakers for a trendy look.

Boyfriend Jeans + Sweater + Metallic Sneakers

If you want to wear denim without the tight fit of skinny jeans, wear a boyfriend silhouette. You’ll get all the room you need! Pair it with a cozy sweater, a scarf, and metallic sneakers for an interesting pop. And put on sunglasses to covered those tired eye. Pull your hair back into a bun and there you have a it – the perfect winter airport look.

How do you keep it cool and comfy for the jet set life?
