After day one of NYFW, I have some thoughts. OK, actually a lot of thoughts. Because it is the best!

NYFW is usually one of the most glamorous weeks of the year for me and my wardrobe. I am always waiting for the next one. But February in New York City? Brrr! Forget about open-toed-shoes and dresses. The bitter cold made my first day a little challenging, but nothing that a big, beautiful and bold coat couldn’t fix! Oh, and to top it all off? A blizzard decided to bring the island of Manhattan about ten inches of snow the night before the first day of NYFW! Thankfully I was already here, and know how to brave the snow-filled sidewalks and streets of the big city.

Oversized coats are my favorite for those days where the temperature drops to uncomfortable levels of freezing, because they leave so much room for layers. The more layers I can fit, the warmer I’ll be. And in New York City, it’s literally impossible to avoid being outside when you have places to be. And if you’re in New York and don’t have places to be, what the point?! I especially have to brave the terrible temperatures at NYFW. Because i need to get in all those street style pics of my outfits, and my incredible oversized coats.

To enhance my NYFW street style when the majority of my outfit has to be covered or I’ll freeze, I go for a creative texture and/or a blog color. I love the bright green coat I wore. With the white pant and yellow handbag, it’s a refreshing look that stands out in the winter. I love winter looks in spring colors!

For my other look, I paired a textured, darker oversized facet with some velvet thigh high boots. There’s a little peep of leg—and yes, I was pretty cold, but the velvet boots kept the rest of my legs so warm, that it was totally doable!

What I love about NYFW—besides the fashion, of course!—is that I get to see so many friends that I haven’t seen in a long time. It’s the perfect reunion. Everyone is gathered under the same roof, and at the same shows. And after the shows, we get to discuss our favorite trends and looks, all while exploring the best parties, and the best places to hang out in New York City. And there’s nothing better than enjoying the one thing you love with the people you love the most. I absolutely love how NYFW brings people together.

And I know what you’re thinking at this point: what about the shows!?! The shows were amazing, and I’m looking forward to more. The trends are looking fabulous, and I can’t wait to wear so many things!
For me, the stand outs on day one were definitely Nicholas K, Cinq a Sept, Creatures of Comfort, and Noon by Noor.

If the first day was any indication, NYFW February 2017 will be a blast: time with fashionable friends, and incredible fashion I look forward to wearing in Fall of 2017!
