MY TOP 5 TRAVEL DESTINATIONS IN THE SUMMER

Date: Posted on Category: Inspirations, Lifestyle, Travel
To say I’ve traveled a lot this summer would be quite the understatement. I’ll always encourage all of you travel at any chance you get because it will forever be the best lesson in learning. If you’re working on a travel bucket list, go ahead and bookmark this post now because I’m sharing my top 5 travel destinations in the summer. We still have two full months left in the season, so it’s not too late to grab those last minute flights and set sail. I promise that you won’t regret it! So in no particular order, let’s get this list started!

1. Venice, Italy

I think Venice will always be one of my favorite cities because there’s nothing like it. From the history to the food and unique alleyway experience, it’s a city you want to get lost in – and I don’t say that often. The famed city is said to be sinking, so I’ll take every chance I get to visit. It’s very unreal to have to get around by water, which makes it that much more special. And if you’re there, you might as well travel 45 minutes to Burano (image right), the cheerful, instagrammable island nearby.

I highly recommend Mexico because it’s so accessible. If you’re looking for a place that’s beachy and tropical (and don’t mind the tourists), Playa del Carmen is a beautiful vacation spot. For a more bohemian vibe with less tourists, Tulum is your spot. And for a true cultural experience sans the beach, Oaxaca and Mexico City are better options. You’ll be in awe with the colonial buildings and indigenous cultures of Oaxaca, and in Mexico City, you have the Teotihuacan Pyramids nearby.

3. Mykonos/Santorini, Greece

As said here, Portofino has got to be one of my favorite cities across the board. It’s an Italian fishing village and holiday resort known for its picturesque harbor. I love it because I get a full vacation experience without all the noise. That means you truly get to escape the bustling city life. My favorite part of this town is when it lights up at night. From afar, it looks like a magical scene from fairytales!

If you can’t tell by now, how much I loved Greece, let me tell you again! Being surrounded by bright blue, sparkling waters, pure white infrastructures, and fresh foods shifted me into such a peaceful state of mind. I explored from sun up to sun down because there was so much to see and I didn’t want to miss one bit of it. Greece is a must-see at least once in your life.

And finally, we have Peru. I actually visited Peru last year, but wanted to throw it on this list because I had the least expectations and was totally blown away. The people were so incredibly kind and life felt so slow and easy here. It’s very under developed so you get tons of natural beauty, plus you’re high up in the air (about 11,200 ft), so the views get so much better. It’s rare that you’ll find someone fluent in English, so there’s another challenge worth taking. That aside, I loved the markets, the architecture, and rare cultural finds!
